Faith in God, Love for People

I Thank God the Universe is Ruled by an Almighty Sovereign God

Yes, this Universe and all living creatures in it are under the rule of the Creator.  It is not a democracy of any sort whatsoever.  We do not have any say as to the laws that govern it.  We do not get to vote about what is right or wrong.  There is one Lawgiver.  There is one Lord and Sovereign Ruler of all.  He declares what is morally right and what is not.  He alone will be the Judge of all men.      I thank God that it is so, for He alone is holy, good and perfect in wisdom.  He alone is infinite in mercy and grace.  If you or I had omnipotent power, we would be vengeful and despotic. If men had the authority to decide what is right or wrong, it would be constantly changing, for many of our race think it is OK to kill and eat human flesh.  Many of our sinful race do not consider it unrighteousness to abuse wife and children.  How many of our poor degenerate race see nothing wrong with lies and deceit.  Yes, I thank God that He alone is the Lord of all, the Ruler of all, and the Judge of all!      Please read with me as I examine briefly a little more fully what this means to you and me.

He is the Creator, the Giver, and Sustainer of All Life     We are told, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.1”  Yes, as nearly all of the greatest scientists, discoverers, and explorers of past centuries knew and declared, the perfections of this creation demand a Creator.  The very first words in God’s holy Word, the Bible are; “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.2”  The rest of His wonderful Book is a revelation of that God. God not only made man, but desired that man should know, serve and worship Him. The very last book of the Bible, the Revelation says this, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.3”  Read it again carefully, please. All things were not only made by God, but “FOR” God. He alone is our purpose for being.     Philosophers may ask, “Why am I here?”  God’s Word has already given the answer.  We are here to bring glory to God. That is the purpose of all the ants, the birds, or the zebras, and all the galaxies of the heavens. It all has one purpose, to show forth the glory, the majesty, the wisdom, and almighty power of Jehovah God, the Creator. The Psalmist said, “Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength.  Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.4”  We also read, “The LORD hath made all things for himself:5”     The New Testament apostle also tells us this; “He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;6”  Yes, dear Friend, the Lord God not only made you, it is only by His daily power and mercy that you and I live and breathe. It is, as another New Testament writer said, “If the Lord will, we shall live…7”

It Means He is to be Obeyed and Feared

Since, my dear Reader, you and I exist and live by the sovereign will, power and goodness of God, it is our duty and obligation to love, worship, serve and obey Him.  He is to be feared above all beings in the Universe. He alone is worthy of our worship and praise. He alone has the right to command and say what is right and what is not.      Moral law is not by preference, nor opinions of men, nor by popular consent.  Moral law is just that. It is the Divine Law of what is morally right or wrong. It is God’s perogative to declare it.  It is He Who made us, and not we ourselves.8  God has made it known to man what His holy will is. It is summarized in the Ten Commandments.  We do not here have space or time to discuss all of these. (You can find each of the 10 discussed elsewhere in this section.)

It is sad that many of the younger generation have not been made to learn God’s Law, so it is necessary for me to briefly discuss some that are grieviously disobeyed in our day.  God’s name is to be kept holy and not to be used in vain. God alone is to be worshipped, and never by the means of any “graven image.”  To do so is to sin and violate His holy law.     Parents and all in authority are to be honored and obeyed. We learn that God hates lying, deception and cheating of any kind.  God is the giver of life, and the Bible declares that the life of human beings is to be sanctified. We call this, “The Sanctity of Life.” From this we learn that murder of human beings is a sin, therfore the life of the murderer should be taken.  We also learn that abortion IS murder, for it is the taking of an innocent human life. It is not a woman’s right!      The Ten Commandments and the whole Bible also teach us “The Sanctity of Marriage.”  God made humans of two different sexes, male and female. God ordained marriage of one man and one woman, not only for the continuation of the race, but also for man’s comfort and enjoyment, yet today illegitimate man-made “laws” seek to pervert God’s Law by declaring that marriage can be between those of the same sex. This is a perversion of the Law and will of the Creator. It is an abomination and a sin. Today many just ignore God and refuse marriage altogether and just live together. This is adultery and fornication and is a perversion of the Divine Law and it is sin.       Jesus, Who is God manifested in the flesh, summarized all of God’s will and law into two commandments: “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.9”        Jesus tells us that if we fail to love God with all of our being, it is sin, as it is disobedience to God’s “First and great commandment.”  Secondly, we are to love other human beings. If I love my neighbor, I will not covet what he has, I will not steal what he has, I will not commit adultery or have any sexual relations outside of the marriage bond.  I will not murder or hate, and I will honor and obey those whom God has placed in authority over me. Any coming short of this, is disobedience to the Divine Law and it is sin. This leads me to my last, brief point.

It Means We Must Repent and Believe on His Son

God, the Almighty Creator, foresaw our sin and rebellion against Him, and so in His grace and mercy He foreordained to send us a Savior.  I remind you God was under no obligation to do anything to save this sinful race.  Had He left us to die and suffer our just eternal condemnation, He would have acted justly and no fault could be found in Him.  BUT PRAISE GOD FOR HIS GRACE!       Yes, God chose to be merciful and loving toward sinnners.  The Old Testament is filled with prophecies of the promised Messiah, the Redeemer from sin and death.  The New Testament tells us of God sending “His only begotten Son” as our Savior.  Yes Jesus Christ, as the apostle said, “…came into the world to save sinners.10” Jesus Christ Himself said that He came “…to seek and to save that which was lost.11”      To accomplish this, Jesus took upon Himself human flesh. He became a man. In that body He lived a sinless life, perfectly keeping and fulfillng all of God’s holy law. He was therefore free “…to give His life a ransom for many.12”  Jesus was “…made to be sin for us…that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.13” “God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself.14”  Yes, Sinner Friend, Jesus took the place of sinners on the cross and died, but God raised Him from the dead, and He is now at the right hand of the Father and makes intercession for everyone that comes to God through Him.  There He saves perfectly and completely every sinner that comes to him in humble faith repenting of his/her sins.  God now commands all men every where to repent.15  Jesus now invites every sinner to come to Him and be saved, for He said, “…him that cometh to Me Iwill in no wise cast out.16”     I urge you right now to fall down as a sinner, guilty of constantly breaking God’s law, in humble repentance, and cry out to Jesus Christ for mercy and salvation, and He will receive you and forgive you of all your sins, and give you His own perfect righteousness, and eternal life.  You will then be made right with God, the Ruler of the Universe.
